Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has appointed federal government officials, the office of the Prime Minister told ENA on Thursday.

The government of Ethiopia gave appointments to special envoys, ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiaries and ambassadors of Ethiopia to abroad, the Office of the Prime Minister announced here on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Meles Zenawi gave here on Tuesday appointments to different government officials.

The Ethiopian government and the separatist Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) signed a peace deal in the capital Addis Ababa on Tuesday.

Ethiopia's main opposition group has strongly criticized the formation of the new government of the ruling Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), who won a landslide victory in the country’s controversial parliamentary polls on May 23 sweeping over 99 % of the vote.

PM Meles Zenawi is expected to appoint new ministers this week after being sworn in as Prime Minister by parliament today. The ruling Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) and allies won 545 seats in the 547-member parliament on May 23' 2010.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has urged foreign donors to assist his government’s five year strategic plan without making any policy requirement demands for their financial aid. He is also seeking the lifting of the ban on direct budgetary support following the May 2005 general election.

As part of the nationwide efforts to curb corruption the Ethiopian Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (FEACC) said on Sunday that it is set to register assets and wealth of 22,000 government appointees as of next month.

The Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) is to discuss with the opposition parties on the five -year National Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), the Office of the EPRDF announced.
