The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam-Dedesa-Holeta 500 KV Power Transmission Project has been signed between Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) and China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co.Itd.

The National Secretariat of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) has announced that it will be introducing new ways of fund raising to help finance the construction of GERD. A special lottery and musical concerts are among the new fund raising methods which will be introduced shortly.

The state telecom monopoly is going to change its latest logo introduced in February 2012, following the decision of the board of directors in favour of a new one that 'better expresses the real work' of the monopoly.

Five East African countries are expected to become beneficiaries of the Eastern Electricity Highway project which is expected to see these countries using Ethiopia’s surplus electric power for their domestic uses.

The National Council in charge of mobilizing the public for construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam held its third regular meeting on Tuesday (October 30, 2012).

Prime Minister Hailemariam briefed the house  on the status of the ongoing mega projects that includes the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), sugar, and fertilizer factories and railway infrastructure.

It was reported last week that the Ethiopian government has been able to allocate electricity coverage to about half the nation. The government’s goal is to aim for three quarters of the country by the year 2015.

The Chinese company China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co. Ltd. (CREEC) has been awarded the 37.381Km Addis Ababa light rail transit project and has already started work.
