Religious leaders urge Christians to support needy
January 6th, 2010Religious leaders called on all Christians to provide support to needy, work together towards development of the country and prevent impacts of climate change.
Speaking in connection with Christmas Day Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Abune Paulos said Christians should provide support to people living with HIV/AIDS, AIDS-orphans and destitute elders while celebrating the day.
The Patriarch said the day should be celebrated with love and forgiveness as God revealed love to humankind on the day.
He said youth should protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and contribute share towards development of the country.
The patriarch said all citizens should work together towards the same goal.
Archbishop of the Ethiopian Catholic Church, Abune BerhaneEyesus on his part said support being provided to needy should be aimed at enabling them become self-supportive.
President of the Ethiopian Evangelical Church MekaneEyesus, Dr. WaqSeyoum Edosa also urged the faithful to contribute share in the efforts to prevent impacts of climate change.
