Ethiopian to commence flights to Humera

Ethiopian Airlines is set to commence regular flights to Humera beginning October 27, 2009.

Domestic Sales, Marketing and Operations Director of Ethiopian, Abebe Angessa said on Wednesday that Ethiopian would have two weekly flights to Humera.

The opening of the new destination is a good opportunity for tourists, the business community and people who move from place to place for various governmental activities, he said.

The new flight to Humera would enable the airline to raise its domestic destinations to 17.

The director said Ethiopian has executed various activities aiming at further enhancing its domestic service.

Accordingly, he said, the airline would replace its Fokker aircrafts with modern Q 400 Bombarde aircrafts as of next March for the same purpose.

The airline transported more than 400,000 local passengers over the past Ethiopian year. He said Ethiopian envisaged increasing this number to 580,000 this year, he added.

Ethiopian Airlines (Ethiopian) is the flag carrier of Ethiopia. During the past sixty plus years, Ethiopian has become one of the continent’s leading carriers, unrivalled in Africa for efficiency and operational success, turning profits for almost all the years of its existence.
