Ministry to discuss with Ethiopians residing in foreign countries


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it will hold discussion with Ethiopians living in foreign countries on national affairs here next week.

Director-General of Diaspora Affairs Directorate of the Ministry Mulugeta Kalil told journalists here on Tuesday that the discussion is aimed at finding solution to problems related to participation of the Ethiopians and Ethiopian origins in the national affairs and development activities.

Mulugeta said information will be made available to them concerning the encouraging activities of the government to further strengthen participation of the Ethiopians living in foreign countries.

The director called on the Ethiopians to get registered and take part in the discussion, which will be held at the Ethiopian Civil Service University next Tuesday.

He said the Ethiopians living in foreign countries contributed seven million USD for construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

Nearly 1000 Ethiopians are expected to take part in the discussion.

Diaspora Participation Promotion Director Feysal Ali on his part said the Ministry has been organizing discussion forums for Ethiopians living in foreign countries and government officials. --ENA
